• Bankinter posted its results on Thursday, with a 490 million profit
  • Wall Street still the focus the day after Dow Jones reaches 20,000
  • Spain's jobs figures for the fourth quarter was published, with unemployment at lowest since 2009

The Ibex 35 closed with a fall of 0.38% but it was still able to maintain the 9,500 level as it finished on 9,512.8 points. Despite the impressive session of Wednesday, the index could not finish positively. The main player of the day was Wall Street, especially the Dow Jones which reached the 20,000 level for the first time the day before.

Returning to the Spanish index, ACS was the worst performer on Thursday, after closing with a fall of 1.65% to 28.9 euros. Caixabank yesterday closed with important gains, but was the second biggest faller on Thursday after losing 1.55% to 3.50 euros.

The third worst stock was BankInter, after it published its results on Thursday (net profits of 490.1 million euros). The bank dropped 1.39% to 7.56 euros.

On the other side, Grifols led the advances after rising 1.58% to 19.8 euros. Amadeus gained 1.39% to 43.8 euros. The next best performer was Aena, after it announced the lowering of airport taxes on Tuesday. It rose 1.12% to 135.35 euros.

OTHER MARKETS

Wall Street remains at the forefront on Thursday after the Dow Jones closed above 20,000 for the first time in its history the day before. The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 also reached record numbers, but had moderate losses today.

In the European markets there were mixed signals. The Dax 30 closed with a rise of 0.36%, but the Cac 40 in France dropped 0.21%. The Ftse 100 in London fell slightly by 0.04%.

Regarding the currency rates, the euro fell once again against the dollar. At the hour of close in European markets it fell 0.76% and was at 1.0664 against the greenback.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS

"Despite the session not a huge amount has changed for our index today, after what we saw on Wednesday," said Bolsamania technical analyst José María Rodríguez. The important movement took place in Spain and the rest of Europe yesterday.
