New avalanche of results to close the week
The banks have all the protagonism in this last day of the week in which they have presented their accounts BBVA, Bankia and CaixaBank. New avalanche of quarterly figures that are having their corresponding impact on the price of the titles of the corresponding companies. However, the Ibex is currently trading flat, with very slight falls (-0.04%) and below the 9,900 points (9,898).
BBVA (+ 2.25%) obtained, between January and March 2018, an attributed result of 1,340 million euros, 11.8% higher than the profit for the same period of 2017 (+ 22.3% in constant terms) and the highest quarterly result in the last three years. This favorable result has occurred despite the fall in margins.
The attributed result of CaixaBank (+ 0.33%) in the first quarter grew to 704 million, which represents an improvement of 74.7%. In this evolution, it indicates the growth of revenues and the reduction of losses due to impairment of financial assets and other provisions.
For its part, Bankia (-0.25%) reported a drop in its net profit of 24.5%. The entity explained that this reduction is due to the lower result obtained from financial operations, the impact on the interest margin of maturities and the sale of fixed-income portfolios, and the non-recurring profit from the sale of Globalvia that was registered in the first quarter of 2017.
Within the Ibex, highlights also the falls in Viscofan, which yields 2% after announcing this Thursday, at the close, its accounts, and the cuts in Ferrovial (-2.63%), announced in the last day that provides register an additional provision of 208 million pounds (236 million euros) in connection with a contract with Birmingham City Council managed by an Amey subsidiary. Outside of Spain, the figures of Airbus stand out, which has gained 31% less.
In the currency market, the euro / dollar is now at 1.2092. During the appearance of Mario Draghi on Thursday, there was no change in the message from the European Central Bank (ECB), which still does not give clues about when its asset purchase program will end. During the afternoon, the euro continued to decline, which always favors increases in equities.
Also, this Friday several important macro data are published. In Spain, GDP maintains its quarterly progress at 0.7% but cuts two tenths. On the other hand, the CPI decreased one tenth in April, to 1.1%. The GDP of the first quarter will also be known in the United Kingdom and the United States, where the PCE of the first quarter will also be published.
