The index went its own way and yielded 1% in the middle of a series of negative news
The Ibex 35 has finally recovered this Thursday the 10,200 points it lost yesterday. The Spanish selective has closed today's session with a rise of 1.04%, to stand at 10,216 points, supported mainly by two of its 'heavyweights', Inditex and Repsol.
This, after the falls of 1% of the last day due to a series of problems that the markets do not like at all and which, moreover, are reaching the Spanish index squarely. The uncertainty about what may happen in Catalonia before the withdrawal of Article 155, the worrying news that comes from Italy and the crisis of emerging currencies, which is directly impacting multiple Spanish companies, is a cocktail that threatens to continue to pressure the selective .
However, in today's session, green has predominated. Thus, the values that have risen the most have been Inditex (+ 3.91%), Siemens Gamesa (+ 2.97%) and Repsol (+ 2.03%). In the case of the latter, which has hit new highs, it has to do a lot that the oil is at historic highs. The barrel of Brent, a benchmark in Europe, exceeds $ 80 for the first time since 2014.
A news that has also caused that Gas Natural has risen more than 1%, to 22.22 euros per share, thus exceeding also historical highs.
MORE PROFITS AND OTHER STOCKS
Practically all the index has shown a good behavior this session. Also the 'blue chips'.In fact, Telefónica has also managed to end the session with slight gains despite the impact it suffers from the situation that Argentina is experiencing and what these circumstances mean for their interests there: the operator is considering suspending the IPO of its subsidiary in the Latin American country.
However, there have been four stocks that have ended the session on Thursday at the Ibex with falls: Indra (-2.36%), Cellnex Telecom (-2.10%), Merlin Properties (-1.05%) and Bankinter (-0.20%). In addition, Grifols has finished completely flat.
Outside Spain, the main European stock markets have risen moderately this Thursday, with gains similar to those of the Ibex 35. And across the pond, Wall Street has started the day with losses, but has turned around and shows rises of 0 , 15% on average in its three main indices at the close of the Spanish stock market.
POLITICS AND MACROECONOMICS
This Thursday it the Spanish public debt was published (specifically, of all the public administrations of the country) increased by 3,371 million euros in March compared to the previous month, thus reaching 1,116bn euros.
On the political level, the news that the Italian parties want the European Central Bank (ECB) to pardon them 250bn euros of debt "has taken its toll on the markets", say the Danske Bank experts in their daily report. The speculations, however, were denied by one of the parties.
Meanwhile, the leaders of the European Union (EU) are attending the EU-Balkans summit in Sofia (Bulgaria) on Thursday. The summit is the first meeting of its kind in 15 years. For the rest, the United States and China resume trade relations talks this Thursday.
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS
After the rallies this Thursday we can say that we have recovered what we lost yesterday. This means our closest support zone is at 10,100 points and below and of greater relevance the area of 9,440-9,450 points, which were previously a resistance. And above, on the resistance side, we have 10,290 and 10,400 points (bearish gap). By values we highlight the new historical highs of Repsol and Gas Natural, helped by the rise in oil to $80 (Brent barrel). We must also look at our Telephone operator, which is grabbing the support of eight euros by straws, because this level marks a gap left by the bullish session on April 5. Or what is the same, any possible recoverythat the operator goes through is because it inevitably has to respect the support zone. Finally, we have Inditex, which in fact is the main responsible for the increases of our selective with a rise of 3.91% (accumulates a rise of 23% from annual minimums). If it rises a little more it will once again overtake Santander as the company with the highest capitalization in our country.
