The Ibex ended the session with a rise of 0.5%, at 9,229 points, after having risen more than 1% thanks to a banking sector that has shot up in the middle of the morning and has deflated afterwards amid speculation regarding the measures that the ECB would be studying to mitigate the offset effect of negative rates.

Técnicas Reunidas (+ 4.72%) was the value with higher rises on Wednesday after a favorable report from JP Morgan in which it raises its recommendation and considerably improves its target price. Following, more bullish values from Mediaset (+ 3.59%) and ACS (+ 2.28%).

Santander (+ 1.57%) was the main driver of the selective and led, together with Caixabank (+ 1.82%) a banking sector that rose by 3% during the morning.

The impulse of the banks has been a Reuters report, according to which the ECB staff is working on options to return some of the money it charges from a charge on excess liquidity to the entities. These rumors have followed the statements of the ECB president, Mario Draghi, who has appeared this morning and has already announced that measures were being studied.

The great exception of the banking sector has been BBVA, which has fallen by 0.67% after the reactivation of the Turkish lira crisis, which could put BBVA on the ropes, like last summer.

Inditex (-2.01%) has continued with the volatility that has characterized its last three sessions and, after a valuation cut by Jefferies, it has clearly been placed as the most bearish value of the session, followed by Acerinox (-0 , 75%) and Enagás (-0.8%), the latter after Société has reduced the target price and recommendation.

VOTES IN THE BRITISH PARLIAMENT

Beyond the news regarding the ECB, which has dominated the stock market information on Wednesday, the other focus of attention is again in the British Parliament on account of Brexit. The British deputies will vote this afternoon, starting at 8pm (Spanish peninsular time), the alternatives to Theresa May's plan.

"The potential scenarios range from the cancellation of the Brexit to a Brexit without an agreement." There is still the possibility that Theresa May tries to re-submit her agreement to the Parliament for a third vote after having been defeated twice. "explains Jasper Lawler, chief strategist at London Capital Group.
