Santander has been the protagonist this Wednesday. First, because it has presented its quarterly results (it earns 5 times more in the period despite a charge of 530 million). And second, because last day he was the architect of the countercurrent rises of the Ibex, which managed to overcome the annual highs located at 8,740 points and close at 8,756 points.

The Spanish index, which closed with increases of + 0.49% (8,799 points), now has 9,000 points in focus - "it seems very likely that we will end up seeing an attack at this level", say the analysts at Bolsamanía-, while Santander managed yesterday to leave behind the resistance of 2.9785 euros and today it has gone over the 3.0680 euros.

All in all, the Cantabrian bank has risen 2.70% after shooting up 5% last session. On the positive side, the strong increases in Indra have also stood out, which has led the Ibex with a revaluation of 6.82%, after announcing a 255% improvement in its net profit yesterday at the close.

Naturgy, which has also published figures, has also closed at the top of the index, along with other titles such as Bankinter, Sabadell or Meliá. On the side of falls, the cuts of more than 4.22% in Solaria and 3.21% in Siemens Gamesa have stood out. Renewables blame this alleged loss of interest in the sector after Ecoener has communicated that it is delaying its IPO and that it now plans to capture half of the capital.

Outside of Spain, Deutsche Bank accounts stand out, which shot up to 9% in the stock market after presenting its best quarterly profit in seven years.

ATTENTION TO THE FED AND THE RESULTS

The other great appointment of the day will be the conclusions of the meeting of the Federal Reserve (Fed), which will be known after the Europe close. No news is expected, but what the US central bank has to say will undoubtedly be very interesting.

"It will probably be an uneventful meeting in which the Fed will keep monetary policy intact and will not give any new signals. Earlier this month, President Powell declared that the US economy is at a tipping point. Since then, the economic data has continued to point to a strong recovery, "say the experts at Danske Bank.

"Assuming the Fed is clearly staying 'on the message', things will go back to business as usual shortly after," says Jeffrey Halley, an analyst at Oanda, referring to continuing rises in equities.

In addition to the Fed, on the other side of the Atlantic very relevant results will be known, such as those of Facebook or Apple. For its part, Microsoft, which presented accounts after the closing of this Tuesday, fell 2.5% in the pre-opening, while Alphabet, which also announced its accounts, rose more than 5%.

FIRST GREAT SPEECH

President Joe Biden will deliver his first major State of the Union address on Wednesday. This will consist of exposing the American Families Plan, a $ 1.8 billion plan for child care, health care and education.

"Whereas the previous plan was an investment in physical capital, the American Families plan is an investment in human capital. The Biden plan is expected to cost about $ 1.8 trillion, in addition to the infrastructure plan, and will be financed by raising the individual taxes of wealthy Americans, "explains Danske Bank.
