Opening without major movements in the European stock markets before the start of the meeting of the Federal Reserve of the United States (Fed), which starts this afternoon the last meeting of the year. The US central bank will decide tomorrow if it finally raises interest rates, although the market consensus already takes for granted the rise. In Spain, Ibex continues trading close to 9,200.
It has been almost twelve months since the US Federal Reserve took the latest interest rate hike, and, this Wednesday, is the last chance of the year to meet, at least partially, its forecast four rate hikes in 2016 .
In the Spanish market, Monday was a good day for Repsol, which managed to rise 1.63% supported by strong oil rises, which reached annual highs. In the continuous market it was accompanied by Sacyr, one of the shareholders of the oil company, which also raised 2.30%.
In the banking sector, Banco Popular falls again sharply and loses around 2.8%. It is, for the moment, one of the worst values of the Ibex this session.
